Day 1 saw light winds of 3 to 8 knots. With the right
side of the course advantaged due to less adverse
tide, it was all about who was first to the beach. The
first 2 races served up some major wind shifts but
the last 2 settled down to close racing with emphasis
on speed on the first beat.
Day 2 had better wind but still fairly light conditions. A good showing by Tara on Min of Mine in the first day was marred by slipping back in the last 2 races. Roger on MapTown.com showed the learning curve involved in being new to the fleet by locking down last place. Congratulations to Treachery on the win! Great to see a fleet of six boats out for the first Regatta of the year!!

We had to christen the Moore 24 "Running Blues" as
an honorary Martin for the weekend to make a fleet.
Desperate times indeed, what would happen if a
Moore 24
went on to win the Martin class???
Everyone had rigged for big winds and Woodstock's total crew weight looked to be pushing the class maximums. The wind gods saw this and delivered 3 to 8 knots and shifty, just to show who was boss. Race 1 went off in reasonable breeze and no tide with Treachery out front and Woodstock close behind. By race 2 the tide had kicked in, MapTown and Running Blues headed right to the beach while the rest went left. A huge lead for those who hit the beach put MapTown and the Moore 1 and 2 at the finish. Race 3 everyone went right, (surprise!) towards the beach in slowly dying and shifting winds. MapTown squeezed by Treachery on the final beat to win the last race of the day. The fog delay in the morning on day 2 had people out
adjusting rigs for what looked like more wind. Some
were going looser while Min of Mine was dialing more
tension.
As it turned out we had one race in light air and a second race cancelled 10 seconds before the start. Five minutes later the day was called. Treachery won the only race on Day 2 to tie with MapTown for first. Woodstock and Running Blues were tied for 3rd.

I asked Paul Nixon for a quick report on the Regatta
for the newsletter. I haven't yet met Paul but I think
the man has a novel in him just waiting to get
out.
Good report Paul! Rounding the Windward mark to port first, Zoom
hoisted the spinnaker and started the downward leg
to Gerald Island, closely followed by Scrimshander,
Flight, and Running With Scissors. This is where
shenanigan#1 took place. Zoom-Zoom, leading the
race, opted to follow the Division I boats, which they
were catching. However, the Division I boats seemed
to be ..... click on the link below to read
